Two Special Recitals for St David's Day and Ukraine

This coming Saturday ( 28 February), Bournville will host two unique recitals.celebrating St David's Day and then a recital of peace and solidarity with Ukraine.

St David's Day Recital at Noon

At 12 noon, Trevor Workman will perform a recital dedicated to St David's Day, the national day of Wales. This programme features music that reflects Welsh heritage and culture through the rich tones of the carillon bells.

Afternoon Recital Supporting Ukraine

At 3pm, the carillon programme will include the Ukraine national anthem and traditional tunes to send a message of peace and support for the people of Ukraine. This follows on from a previous event where Bournville joined an initiative by the World Carillon Federation of 680 carillons to show unity through music despite difficult circumstances..

The programme includes the Ukraine National Anthem and several traditional Ukrainian tunes. A highlight is the composition Prayer for Ukraine by Mykola Lysenko, which expresses hope and resilience through its melodic structure. This recital is more than a musical performance; it is a gesture of solidarity that resonates through the bells, reaching listeners far beyond Bournville.
