We are pleased to welcome Carson Landry, University Carillonist at the University of Rochester in the USA, to Bournville for two guest recitals on Saturday 25 July at 12 noon and 3.00pm.
Carson performs several recitals each week at the University of Rochester, where he also teaches around 15 carillon students. He is passionate about using bells for social good, presenting diverse repertoire and bringing uplifting carillon music into everyday life.
He holds degrees in music and carillon from the University of Michigan, the Royal Carillon School in Belgium and Principia College. An active recitalist throughout North America and Europe, Carson also serves the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America as Secretary and as chair of several committees.
12 noon recital
The first recital will feature a varied programme including Here Comes the Sun, Sunrise, Sunset, La Bamba and What a Wonderful World, alongside contemporary works and music from around the world.
3.00pm recital
The second recital will be based on Carson’s provisional programme, including Born This Way, The Bells of Notre Dame and further music from around the world.
Both programmes are available to view and download below.
Bournville will also be hosting performances as part of the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival on the Village Green throughout the day, making it an excellent opportunity to enjoy a variety of free live music in the heart of the village. Carson’s programmes include well-known favourites such as What a Wonderful World, La Bamba and Here Comes the Sun, adding to what promises to be a memorable day of music in Bournville.
Both recitals are free to attend, and everyone is warmly invited to listen from Bournville Village Green and the surrounding area.
